Dr. Edwin Serrano’s journey into physical therapy

began at Our Lady of the Lake University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and worked as a personal trainer, sparking his passion for helping others move and feel better. He continued his education at The University of the Incarnate Word, joining their inaugural Physical Therapy class, and graduated with his Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2015. His commitment to providing exceptional care led him to pursue a fellowship in manual therapy through The American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists.

Dr. Serrano's Certifications include:

  • Fellowship in Manual Therapy

  • Sports & Orthopedic Regenerative Dry Needling Practitioner

  • Running Rehabilitation Specialist

  • Barbell Rehabilitation Certified

  • USAW Level 1 Certified

  • CrossFit Level 1 for Healthcare Professionals Certified

  • Fitness Athlete Pregnancy and Postpartum (Pelvic Floor) - CMFA Certified

With over four years of experience working in outpatient physical therapy, Dr. Serrano served as both a staff physical therapist and clinical director. During his time as a director, he became frustrated with the constraints of insurance companies, which made it increasingly difficult to provide the quality care his patients deserved. This led him and his wife, Flor, to open Positive Action Rehab & Performance, a practice designed around quality, one-on-one care that prioritizes patient outcomes and faster recovery.

Dr. Serrano works with individuals of all ages, treating everything from preventative therapy to post-surgical recovery. He specializes in orthopedic injuries, geriatrics, and athletes, including those involved in barbell training, CrossFit, and recreational sports. He takes a patient-centered, evidence-based approach, combining manual therapy, exercise, and movement training to empower patients with the tools they need to recover and thrive.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Serrano enjoys playing basketball, watching movies, and working out at King William CrossFit with his wife. His favorite moments, however, are spent chasing after his energetic toddler, Luciano.
